Lis-el Crowley workshop coming May 2019

We are truly fortunate to welcome Lis-el to Canada for the first time. Lis- el Crowley is a senior Certified Metal Clay artist.  She is currently specializing in metal clay, fused glass, metalsmithing, and mixed media. As a teacher, Lis-el thrives on awakening the creative spark within people of all ages and backgrounds. She has taught throughout the United States and England, in a variety of venues and environments. She is the Vice President of the newly formed AMCAW (Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide). Lis-el is founder and director of the Metalclay Artisan Guild in Connecticut, and creator and organizer of the Metal Clay Mojo Conference. Her work has been featured in publications including The Crafts Report (now known as Handmade Business), Art Jewelry magazine, and Easy Metal Clay. 


About Fire and Ice Workshop


When:  May16 - 17 2019


Cost: $300.00 Can  ($250.00 if taking both workshops)


The sculptural qualities of fine silver metal clay make it an excellent

medium for setting glass in all shapes and sizes. Because the glass can be

fired in place, the clay can be formed around it in organic and interesting

ways, creating unique and fully integrated designs with ease.

This workshop is suitable for relative beginners to advanced students, and will cover the following:


Initial design of pieces including finishing considerations.


Option of creating your own fused glass stones which you can also use in the following workshop. 


Best practices for setting and firing fused glass into metal clay in a

variety of ways.


Texturing the clay, and creating a unique and sculptural setting for

the dichroic glass


Creating unique bails which integrate with your designs

Firing and finishing the pieces


About Art Nouveau Workshop 


When: May 18 -19, 2019


Cost:  $300.00  ($250 if taking both workshops)


The Art Nouveau movement is know for its fluid lines and natural shapes. Metal clay is a perfect medium to use to explore this genre.

During this workshop, you will learn to form a variety of tapered and elegance coils in metal clay which will be combined with faceted gemstones and/or used dichroic glass, to create our own unique designs with an art nouveau flair. 

During this two day, in depth workshop, we will cover:

  1. Stone Setting Best practices for creating bezels and settings for stones and glass that can be fire in place will be demonstrated and discussed. Incorporating multiple stones in your design will also be explored. 
  2. Forming Through an in-depth approach including discussion, demonstration, and ands on application, Lisel will help you create your unique designs from start to finish. Best tools and techniques for creating and shaping coils, joining and strengthening connections, finishing and embellishing will all be covered. Use of bails, chain, connectors and clasps to finish and augment designs will also be covered. 
  3. Firing and finishing. LIs-el will cover firing when stones are in a piece, post firing finishing, tumbling, patina and final finish
